Action Required for UHCWest.com Users: Register for your Optum ID and Get Started with Link!
In 2017, UnitedHealthcare will be retiring the UHCWest.com address. Users will be transitioned to UnitedHealthcareOnline.com and Link, the gateway to UnitedHealthcare's online tools. Users will continue to have access to the content and transaction tools they need, and will be notified when these are moving. To help ensure a smooth transition, we're asking UHCWest.com users to prepare now by registering for an Optum ID and connecting it to their Tax Identification Number (TIN).
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is changing and when?
A1. Changes will take place over several months. Users will be informed as content and features transition. Over the next few months, users will be asked to register for an Optum ID and connect it to their TIN. This will allow you to begin using transaction features on UnitedHealthcareOnline.com and Link as they become available. However, you can continue to use UHCWest.com until each transaction tool moves. You will be notified before any transaction capabilities are removed from UHCWest.com.
Q2. What is Link?
A2. Link is your gateway to UnitedHealthcare's online tools. Care providers and their staff can use Link to find the information they need for most UnitedHealthcare members on a single website. Link apps can help care providers get the information they need faster - without picking up the phone. You can use Link instead of calling to submit pre-service requests such as checking patient eligibility and benefits.
Q3. What do I need to do?
A3. If you haven't already done so, you'll need to register for an Optum ID on UnitedHealthcareOnline.com and connect it to your TIN so that you can use Link and UnitedHealthcareOnline.com. You can register by selecting New User at the top right of UnitedHealthcareOnline.com.
In November 2016, UHCWest.com users will begin seeing pop-up messages about this transition when they log in to check eligibility or claims status. The messages will let users choose from the following options:
- Stay on UHCWest.com for now.
- I have an Optum ID and it's already connected to a Tax ID.
- I have an Optum ID and need to connect it to a Tax ID.
- I don't have an Optum ID. Let's go to New User Registration.
- Learn more.
If you choose to stay on UHCWest.com, you will still have access to the content and transaction tools you need. You will be notified before any features are migrated.
Q4. Is training available for care providers?
A4. Yes, you can view available training sessions on the UnitedHealthcareOnline.com Training & Education page.
Q5. Where can I learn more?
A5. More information can be found on the Getting Started and Link pages. Stay tuned to the UnitedHealthcare Network Bulletin, and this page, for more information and action required. Certain care providers will also receive notices by mail as required by state law.
